last releases of 2017?

yeah, baby, we're back again. hope you're not checking in on this blog for up-to-update news, since it ain't here.

we've got two new releases out now. see below.

SPR-015: fuck? - "self titled by fuck"
Debut cassette single by these stoner metal knuckleheads. Goofy but also heavy. Featuring members of some other, inferior bands whose names I can't remember. ($3.50)

SPR-016: Jeremy's Band - "Why The Sky Purple?"
Another debut cassette. This one's by Jeremy. Who is Jeremy? Buy the tape and find out. Weirdo hardcore that also happens to be killer. "BKMC" is a heartbreaking tale of lost love. "Hanging Out" sounds like Cruelster if they had the guitarist of Perverts Again (they do, he's just not the guitarist) and is maybe one of my favorite songs of the year. "I Am Piss I" and "I Am Piss II" are...they have to be heard. And "Fraud In Frozen Aisle" to close it out is just the icing on the cake, especially with the Hawkwind cover stuffed in there somewhere. Featuring no members of any band. ($5.00)

we also put out some other stuff that's now sold out, I think.

coming up next will probably be two releases from area scary popsters Short Feelings. details:

SPR-017 will be a cassingle. one side has some sappy three-chord garage pop and the other has a Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments cover.

SPR-018, which was recorded long before SPR-017, is a full-length demo thing entitled "Living For Nothing & Dying For Less." better than "Part Three?" maybe more consistent.

probably more stuff after that, too. SOUPSPOON have a new EP in the works which is pretty good. also kinda working on a crummy comp. we'll see how that goes.

more new junk and cool stuff

I know it's only been a month or so since the last update, which puts this way ahead of schedule, but since we have new stuff out, I thought it would be good to share!

SPR-011 is the debut cassette from Short Feelings, which is called "Part Three." Feel-good power pop/punk hits sure to make your summer kinda okay. Recommended for fans of Kill The Hippies and Great Plains. How do those two relate? I don't know.

As for bands that are super important, SOUPSPOON also have a new release! It's called "Music Doesn't Really" (SPR-012) and has been a very polarizing release for their fandom. Personally, I think it's their best yet. It kicks harder and louder and quieter and shorter than anything since their last one. Esteemed producer man Eric Schraibman recorded it and did it nice and big sounding, which is impressive, considering what a small room it was recorded in.

We have only loose plans for what comes next. There's a weirdo synth-punk type record on the way at some point (catalog number undetermined) as well as the exciting new excitement from The Angry Squirrels, which I'm pretty excited about. SOUPSPOON have also informed me that they're going to be recording again within the next few weeks and you know I'll always release anything SOUPSPOON sends me. Vaguely Threatening spinoff group The Danni Experience is also hard at play, so maybe they will have something ready to go at some point. We also have some vague notion to work more with the Fort Eric crew on some projects and also to perhaps collaborate with DJ Goth Nascar on some cool stuff.

So besides all that stupid nonsense, we also got reviewed in Ear Of Corn! This is very exciting for us, as editor-in-chief Food was very kind about releases SPR-001, SPR-001, SPR-003, SPR-004, SPR-005, SPR-006, SPR-007, and SPR-009. For those keeping score, that means he reviewed almost all of them, which is really really cool.

I think that's most of what's new around here. We also still have copies of "old friends of mine" by k.d.t (a release that grows on me every time I listen to it) and probably other stuff too if you're interested. Or whatever. Take care.

bad at running label: latest update

so, as you probably know from following this blog, I'm not too great at running a label. since the last post here, we've released and sold out of a number of releases. so, too bad for you if you missed those.

fortunately, we're still doing lots of other junk. coming up hopefully later this week is SPR-010: k.d.t's "old friends of mine." this is very different from what we've released in the past. six tracks of short piano instrumentals. actually pretty good. limited edition preorder versions have already been distributed and the standard edition will be officially available very soon. somehow this is a big top seller for us. who knew?

we have a ton more stuff planned as well but I wanna get this k.d.t thing out before I start making any big announcement types. also we're looking in to getting more of a partnership going with Fort Eric so hopefully we can just really start churning the garbage out for you to receive.

oh and also, we have a few copies of the tapes made by our acquaintance at You'll Never Catch Me Tapes. pretty enjoyable live performances by Heavenly Queen (HA HA #1) and Magic City (HA HA #2). if you missed out on either of those band's now sold out debut releases, you can hear them almost as nicely on these live tapes. one's white and the other's purple. five bucks each.

i think that's it. check back soon for more, or maybe i'll forget about the existence of this blog for another six months. we'll see.

as always, feel free to contact us at somethingpushedrecords(at)gmail(dot)com for your bad music needs.
